God called Heidi “to go” while she was in Mexico on a short-term mission trip with her youth group when she was 13. She went to ORU to earn a degree in Missions. Joel felt called to Missions when he first surrendered to God on a mountaintop in Alaska. Joel felt that God would take him to every continent of the world. Joel met Heidi at ORU while earning a degree in International Business.
They joined Go To Nations in January of 2003 and served in Burkina Faso, West Africa as the National Directors for twelve years. They have raised up a strong national team of missionaries that are conducting Children's Ministry outreaches among the most un-reached people groups. They have formed a partnership with Operation Christmas Child that is helping meet the physical needs of children and families in the nation.
Joel and Heidi have returned to the United States but continue to support and oversee the continued mission work in Burkina Faso. Today they are taking their expertise in Children's Ministry and training missionaries and missional leaders how to reach their nations with the Gospel through reaching the next generation. Children are the leaders of tomorrow, and by capturing their hearts for Christ, you transform villages, communities, and nations.
