Many times in this life, we face circumstances that are incredibly oppressive and some that would absolutely overpower and overcome us. Yes, we may try to face those circumstances on our own and, yes, sometimes we may experience some level of success, but look at Romans 8:35-37 (NIV):

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

The key truth we find in these verses is that our strength as believers comes from “him who loved us:” Jesus. As born again believers we have the Holy Spirit living inside of us. The strongest possible force in the universe is taking up residence in our beings. This is the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead! And he loves us and desires the absolute best for us. When we surrender trying to face problems on our own, and turn to Christ for guidance and help, we can move from a place of minimal success or perhaps being totally overcome to a place of “More than conquering.” Being more than a conqueror means that you have defeated the trial, and then you take back ground that the trial once took from you. This is possible through our Lord.

When faced with trials and hardships are you turning to Jesus as your source of strength? He wants to play this key role in helping you get victory over the things that would seek to overcome you!

Prayer: Lord I pray that as missionaries and members of the body of Christ are faced with hardship and trials, they choose you to be their source of strength. I thank You for Your love that will never be separated from me, no matter what the circumstance is that I am faced with. Thank you for the Holy Spirit living in us! Let our actions and answers be Holy Spirit led! We are more than conquerors through You that loves us!
